Stark Museum of Art---Spring Art Day---
Registration is now open for Art Quest, free youth art classes offered by the
Stark Museum of Art. The classes will be available for students in grades 1 - 8
and will take place during the week of Orange County public school spring break,
March 13 - 16, 2012.
Saturday Adventure Series Programs for Spring 2012
Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center---beginning March 3
Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center announces upcoming programs for
the Spring Saturday Adventure Series. Many of these programs are hands-on
activities and explore the natural world through informative natural history
lessons from Shangri La educators. Below, you will find upcoming programs for
the months of March, April and May. The Saturday Adventure Series programs begin
at 9:30 a.m. and last about an hour. Participants will meet at the Admissions
Window at the scheduled event time. All programs offered in the series are free
of charge, but an RSVP is required as space is limited. Call 409.670.9799 to
reserve a seat today.

Family Day

The Stark Museum of Art, 712 Green Avenue in Orange, Texas, invites families to Musical Family Day on Saturday, February 25, 2012, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Attendance is free and all ages are welcome.
Musical Family Day will
celebrate the intersection between music and the visual arts. Children can
participate in a scavenger hunt for musical instruments in the paintings on
display in the galleries to win a prize. Visitors will have the opportunity to
create their own unique musical instrument and to play music. Families can join
in a game of freeze dance, read a story together and enjoy complimentary
refreshments.

Blue Man Group---Third Performance Added
Lutcher Theater---March 7, 2012 at 7:30PM
The Lutcher Theater began the 2011-2012 season with two performances of
BLUE MAN GROUP scheduled to play March 5-6, 2012. The two shows
sold out in record time resulting in the addition of a third performance now
scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 7:30 PM.
Tickets for the March 7 performance are on sale now and can be purchased
at www.lutcher.org.

Romeo and Juliet--Children's Theater--Open to Public

“Shakespeare doesn’t have to be boring” – is the boldly expressed mantra of Classical Theatre Project scheduled to play ROMEO & JULIET, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Lutcher Theater. This production is full-scale, running two hours in length.
Though listed as part of the Printpack Children’s Performing Arts Series, typically performed in the daytime for student groups, ROMEO & JULIET is open to the public at only $15 per ticket. Tickets for this production can only be purchased by phone or in person, and not online. Groups and individuals can be purchase tickets by calling the Lutcher Theater box office at 409.886.5535.
Experience Shakespeare’s original language from the award-winning and vibrant Classical Theatre Project. This stunning production of ROMEO & JULIET is inspired by 16th century morality plays, but designed specifically with the 21st century audience in mind. Wandering players transform an Elizabethan marketplace into a playing space with a chalk circle and the audience’s imagination. This stunning production captures the youthful passion and ultimate tragedy of Shakespeare’s best-loved story. ROMEO & JULIET was nominated for Outstanding Performance in the Theatre for Young Audiences Division at the Dora Mavor Moore Awards in 2007. The performance captures the youthful passion, beauty, and ultimate tragedy of Shakespeare’s timeless and unforgettable story.

Medieval Manuscripts
Stark Museum of Art--November 19 to February 25, 2012
The Stark Museum of Art opened
its holiday-themed exhibition Medieval Manuscripts: From the Stark
Collections on Saturday, November 19, 2011, to be on view thru February 25,
2012. This exhibition features four Books of Hours from the fifteenth and early
sixteenth centuries. Each is open to a page of glorious hand-painted
